My First Impression of Claude Haiku 4.5: When AI Thinks I Need a Therapist
I saw many positive reviews about this newly released model, so this was my first time trying the Haiku model.
The results were... interesting.
In my first few sessions, it tried to send me to a therapist.
While I’m sure I don’t need one, and I told it that just thinking about the whole conversation was hilarious.
Therapist: Tell me, why do you think you need help?
Me: Oh, Haiku 4.5 told me! (shows the chat logs)
Strangely, Claude Sonnet 4.5, which I use daily, never once suggested therapy.
After a few days, I learned how not to trigger the “you need a therapist” route.
I discovered that if I asked iterative or recursive questions, it would start to worry about me.
But since that’s just my natural way of communicating, it became exhausting to keep wondering, “Will this question trigger that route again?”
